Apple upgrade season is here, and this time we picked up both the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the Apple Watch Ultra 4. After unboxing both, our first impression is pretty simple: Apple is continuing to refine two products that already felt extremely polished.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max immediately feels premium. The large display is gorgeous, performance is incredibly smooth, and the cameras are obviously one of the biggest reasons to upgrade. For us, the camera matters a lot because we’re constantly filming travel videos, Tesla content, Reels, and short-form social media. A phone that can replace even more dedicated camera gear while traveling is a huge advantage.
The other thing we noticed right away is how seamless everything feels. Apple’s strength has always been the ecosystem, and pairing a new iPhone with the Apple Watch makes that even more obvious. Notifications, fitness tracking, photos, navigation, and everyday tasks all flow together with almost no effort.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 feels like the perfect companion for travelers and anyone who is active. The large display remains one of our favorite parts of the Ultra line, and the rugged design makes it feel much more suited for hiking, workouts, swimming, long travel days, and outdoor adventures than a traditional smartwatch.
We also love how much health and fitness information the Watch puts directly on your wrist. Whether we’re running, exploring a new city, tracking workouts, or just checking activity throughout the day, it has become one of those devices that we barely think about anymore because it is always there doing its job.
Are these revolutionary upgrades? Probably not for everyone. But if you use your phone and watch constantly, travel frequently, create content, or simply like having Apple’s newest technology, both devices make a very strong first impression.
